IVF Pregnancy Success Rates
The chance of having a baby via
IVF depends in part on age. The graph below shows ACRM’s most recent
published data.

In addition, some women have extra embryos from the initial cycle of treatment
that are stored for later use by freezing. In our program, this freezing
is done at the
blastocyst stage by the method called “vitrification.”
Donor Egg Program
Some women use eggs from younger women to conceive. The “traditional”
donor egg approach involved inseminating “fresh” eggs from
a donor with sperm and then transferring a limited number of the resulting
embryos into the recipient in a synchronized cycle. Our experience with
this “traditional” approach is shown in the first bar of the
graph, labelled “with fresh eggs.”
With the advent of vitrification, we can now freeze eggs and store them
in our egg bank. Egg freezing is gaining popularity because the process
is simpler, it does not involve synchronization of cycles or any delay
in obtaining the eggs, and is significantly less costly. Results with
the use of frozen eggs are shown in the bar labelled “with frozen
eggs.” The third bar indicates the success with the use of frozen
embryos, which can occur after either the “traditional” or
“egg bank” approaches.
